Steps in the Process:

Be admitted to Highline Community College. Admissions Process.

Apply for a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov
Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online at www.fafsa.gov It may take a couple weeks for Highline to receive your FAFSA information. Please refer to the financial aid deadlines and plan accordingly.

Submit required items: All students must submit a Financial Aid Data Sheet each academic year. Additional items must be submitted as requested. Refer to the comments section of your Student Aid Report (SAR) on the FAFSA website and the Financial Aid Portal for additional items.

Highline reviews application materials after all required information has been submitted. This will take several weeks. Funds are limited. Late applicants must pay for tuition and fees on their own. If unable to pay, students are responsible for withdrawing from class(es) or they will be charged.
Applications completed after the Financial Aid deadline will be reviewed by the following quarter's tuition due date. Students may receive funding, if eligible, retroactively. -
Check your financial aid status. The Financial Aid Office will provide an award letter, or letter of ineligibility, to the student. Further steps may be needed during the review process. Students will be informed of these via the Financial Aid Portal.
To be eligible for Federal Financial Aid, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
- Be working toward an eligible degree or certificate.
- Be making Satisfactory Academic Progress.
- Have a high school diploma or GED certificate
- Be registered with Selective Service (male students 18 and over).
- Submit an application and have financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office.

Not owe a repayment on a grant or be in default on a federal education loan.
